All Traffic Lights on St. Croix Damaged by 2017 Storms Have Been Replaced, Public Works Says; Work Continues on St. Thomas

The Department of Public Works has made known that all traffic lights damaged during the 2017 storms on St. Croix have been replaced. D.P.W. said the damaged traffic signals were replaced with new ones and/or mast arms. The final phase of this project will include illuminated street name signage. On St. Thomas, D.P.W. said it continues to work with Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division to install new traffic signals, poles and mast arms. The second order of poles arrived on island in the last days of December and the contractor, Island Roads Corporation, is expected to complete the remaining intersections by January 17. Due to pending matters with surrounding private properties, the intersections at Benner Hill (approaching the National Guard) and Zora’s (Norre Gade) in St. Thomas will not be replaced by the new date.
