Man Dies After Truck Rolls Down Decline and Traps Him at Contant Residence, VIPD Says

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicular incident in Contant after a 58-year-old man died Tuesday evening when a truck rolled down a short decline and trapped him underneath. According to the VIPD, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a citizen at 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday, reporting that a truck had rolled over a male at a residence in Contant. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and determined that the man showed no signs of life. A preliminary investigation found that Pedro Solano Castro was under his truck when it rolled down a short decline and collided with another vehicle, trapping him beneath the truck. Police said Castro was discovered by a family member, who called 911 for assistance. Castro succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
