Man Dies, Woman Injured During Accident on South Shore Road

ST. CROIX — A man died and a woman was injured in the wee hours of Tuesday morning during an accident on the South Shore road just west of the Catherine's Rest intersection, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has made known. The 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of the accident at about about 1:28 a.m.  Officers arrived on scene and found the vehicle, a black 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, on its roof. The occupants were thrown out of the vehicle during the accident, as they were not wearing seatbelts. The vehicle was also moving at a high rate of speed, according to police. According to Mr. Derima, the driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Deshea D. Douglas, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
