Woman Reports Being Raped by a Stranger at Hotel in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — A woman told police she was raped by a stranger at the Margaritaville Vacation Club in St. Thomas after the two had drinks together. According to police spokesman Toby Derima, on Sunday at around 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Margaritaville Vacation Club, located in Smith Bay, in reference to a rape. Officers made contact with the female victim, who reported that she was at the resort’s Hilltop Bar where she met the suspect, who she did not know previously, and they both had alcoholic beverages together. The victim went on to state that as she was heading back to her room, the suspect walked her behind the lobby and sexually assaulted her, and subsequently left the area, according to the V.I.P.D. news release.
