The V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Office is launching a public outreach campaign to gather public interest in participating in residential flood and wind mitigation programs. According to VITEMA, through the Residential Retrofits for Resiliency program, USVI residents may be eligible to receive funding through FEMA to implement a wind retrofit to their homes, including a roof retrofit and/or replacement, installation of impact-resistant shutters or windows and doors, and ensuring their home can withstand extreme wind events. Through the Residential Flood Mitigation program, USVI residents that suffer from recurring flooding may be eligible to receive FEMA funding to complete a voluntary acquisition, elevation, or reconstruction of their home.
