St. Thomas Man Charged After Being Identified as Gaso Hill Home Intruder

ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man is facing multiple charges after residents identified him as the individual who broke into their Gaso Hill home last month. According to court documents, police were dispatched to the residence on July 18 following a report of a burglary. At the scene, officers met with a woman who said she and her children had been asleep when, around 11 p.m., her boyfriend called her name and warned that someone was inside the house. She stepped out of her bedroom and saw a man fleeing the residence. The boyfriend told police that he had just arrived home from work when he noticed the front door closing. Upon entering the house, he said he saw a man stuffing items into his pocket. He immediately called out to alert his girlfriend, prompting the intruder to run. The couple reported that the individual was Sharkiel Weekes, someone they were familiar with due to prior disturbances in the neighborhood.
