ST. CROIX — A woman was arrested just before she boarded a flight to Puerto Rico, after local officials were alerted to an outstanding warrant from the state of Louisiana.

According to court records, Naydeen Frederick was at the Henry Rohlsen Airport on Sunday, about to board a Cape Air flight to Puerto Rico with onward travel to Louisiana, when she was detained. Customs and Border Protection officers alerted police to an outstanding warrant for Ms. Frederick. The warrant was issued from the DeSoto parish in Louisiana, seeking Ms. Frederick's detention on charges of second-degree cruelty to juveniles.

Once the warrant was confirmed to be valid, and police confirmed that Louisiana was willing to extradite Ms. Frederick, she was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice. Due to the nature of the charge, she was unable to access bail and remanded into custody.

As of press time, there are no court records to indicate whether Ms. Frederick has had her first court appearance.
