Public Works Announces $16 Million in Road Repairs to Begin Monday in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS -- The VI Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the start of more than $16 million in street, sidewalk and other improvements on St. Thomas starting Monday. Main Street Enhancement Project Motorists can expect traffic and parking disruptions in the Main Street vicinity beginning Monday and continuing until further notice, the DPW said Friday.  The current road closure on the first block of Main Street will extend to Store Tvaer Gade (corner of Palm Pasaage). Motorists will no longer be able to turn right onto Main Street from Guttets Gade (First Bank road), as one-way traffic will now resume heading west.Motorists will be allowed to traverse Store Tvaer Gade heading towards Veterans Drive, or turn right onto Main Street at (at I-Levin) heading west.During this detour, no parking will be allowed on Main Street.
