VIPD Investigates Reported Aggravated Rape Involving a Minor on St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department said on Sunday that it is actively investigating a reported case of aggravated rape involving a minor, following a report received Saturday afternoon on St. Thomas. According to the VIPD, detectives and officers were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, after receiving a report of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the minor female victim and her mother. Preliminary information provided by police indicates that the alleged incident occurred inside the victim’s residence between approximately 11:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, and 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13. The victim reported that the suspect used physical force during the incident. The suspect was described by police as an adult male who is known to the victim’s family.
