Bryan Administration Released 5,152 Refund Checks Last Week, Another 5,513 Going Out This Week - Over 8,000 Are for Tax Year 2020

The Bryan administration is in the process of releasing over 10,000 tax refunds, with most of the checks being for residents who filed their 2020 taxes, according to Gov't House. The administration said Tuesday that Virgin Islanders who filed their 2020 taxes on time and did not have any issues with their returns will receive the bulk of the refunds — 8,637 of the checks. According to Richard Motta, the administration's communications director, 5,152 checks went out last week and another 5,513 are scheduled for issuance later this week. The latest distribution of refunds totals $25 million. “This latest round of payments brings the Bryan-Roach Administration closer to its goal of paying refunds owed to tax filers in the same year they file their returns – something that has not been accomplished in the past,” Mr. Motta said.
