V.I. Port Authority Inviting Contractors to Bid on Dock Repair Project

The V.I. Port Authority has issued an invitation for contractors to bid on a project to renovate and expand the Loredon L. Boynes Sr. Dock in Cruz Bay, St. John, according to a release issued Friday. The project entails resurfacing the entire pier to ensure a smooth uniform surface; installing a canopy adjacent to the existing terminal to provide added protection from inclement weather; adding a male and female restroom and adding an electrical room for an emergency power generator. The Boynes Dock is the primary port of entry on St. John and facilitates the daily movement of thousands of residents and visitors traveling between the Red Hook port on St. Thomas and Cruz Bay. The St. Thomas/St. John Historic Preservation Committee approved the project’s plans in May 2022, and it was also approved by the V.I. Coastal Zone Management Commission.
