BIR asks Virgin Islanders Who Received Additional Stimulus Check From IRS to Repay Funds to Bureau

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (B.I.R.) said Tuesday that it has been made aware of stimulus payments being deposited into the accounts of Virgin Islanders by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), even after these same Virgin Islanders received Cares Act stimulus payments from B.I.R. “It has been brought to our attention that some of our Virgin Islands residents have received stimulus payments via direct deposit, in addition to the checks that were paid by the government of the Virgin Islands. Taxpayers are only entitled to one stimulus check at this time,” said B.I.R. Director Joel Lee.
