The V.I. Department of Education has announced that it will hold virtual orientation sessions for public school students during the week of August 31-September 4. Access to orientations on Zoom and Microsoft Teams will be emailed directly to parents and students, D.O.E. said. Schedule for the St. Thomas-St. John District is here. St. Croix's schedule is here.
Laptops, mifi internet devices, desks and chairs will also be distributed during the week, according to the release. Parents/students picking up these items will undergo a temperature check, are required to wear a face mask or facial covering, and practice social distancing. Rules will be strictly enforced.
Parents are also required to sign for the items, which are the property of the V.I. Department of Education, assuming full responsibility for them in the event the items are lost, damaged or stolen, the department said.
Special Education Virtual Parent Meeting
A meeting for parents of students receiving Special Education services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on September 3 on D.O.E.'s Facebook page. Parents and students are urged to tune in to the live, interactive session for important information pertaining to students with special needs.
