ST. JOHN — Three men were injured by gunfire during a shooting incident in St. John Tuesday night, with one of the three later succumbing to his injuries, the Consortium has learned.
The victim who succumbed to his injuries was shot in the chest, the Consortium has learned.
The homicide in St. John is the 46th for the territory in 2020. The 44th and 45th homicides occurred on St. Croix late October and early November, when a 19-year-old man was shot to death in Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 31, and another man, in his 40s, was shot dead at his home on St. Croix's East End in the presence of his young, twin sons.
The V.I. Police Department has identified the homicide victim on St. John, Mr. Derima has revealed.
In a release issued late Wednesday, Mr. Derima said the victim was identified by next of kin as 20-year-old A’Jahnie Bramble.
According to the news release, on Wednesday at approximately 12:05 a.m., 911 Emergency Call Center received a call of shots fired in Estate Enighed. Officers traveled to the scene and found an unresponsive male who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene concluded that the male did not have any vital signs.
Officers then learned that two other individuals received gunshot wounds in the incident, and that those two individuals were being treated at the Myra Keating Clinic.
St. John Deputy Chief of Police Vivianne Newton denounced this incident and urged the responsible parties to turn themselves in. “Someone out there knows what happened. Please contact us and let us know so we can arrest who did this,” Deputy Chief Newton stated.
