ST. CROIX — A man believed to be in his late 40s was shot dead Sunday afternoon at his home in Catherine's Hope on the east end of St. Croix, the Consortium has learned. V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima subsequently corroborated the homicide.

The victim was shot in the back by an unknown suspect, according to the 911 Emergency Call Center, which received a report of the incident at about 2:28 p.m. Upon officers' arrival to the scene, they met an unresponsive male who was declared dead on arrival.

The victim was shot while his young twin sons were in the home, according to a police source. Mr. Derima would not go into details of the shooting.

The victim was identified by next of kin as Bomani Christian.

This afternoon's homicide was the second for the weekend on St. Croix, and the 45th territory-wide for 2020. On Saturday night at about 8:20 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot to death in Concordia West during a drive-by shooting.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this homicide to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
