The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority’s (W.M.A.) “preserving paradise” team has advised the community that the Bovoni Landfill experienced a fire that was under control as of Wednesday. The Virgin Islands Fire Service and W.M.A. contractors continue to monitor the situation, the authority said.
W.M.A. said it will provide updates on any changes that may affect the public and haulers from utilizing the solid waste facility.
The authority will also continue to provide updates regarding changes that may affect public health and the environment. Motorists are advised to avoid traveling along the Bovoni Road until further notice.
The W.M.A.’s preserving paradise team apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the community for its patience and cooperation.
