UVI to Award Honorary Degrees to Music Duo R. City and Aviation Pioneer Caroline Fawkes at 60th Commencement

The University of the Virgin Islands has announced it will confer honorary degrees on renowned music duo Theron and Timothy Thomas, known as R. City, and aviation trailblazer Caroline Fawkes during its 60th Commencement Ceremonies. The events are scheduled for May 9 and 10 at UVI's St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses, respectively. Theron and Timothy Thomas, the St. Thomas-born siblings behind the international music sensation R. City, will receive honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees. Their careers, highlighted by collaborations with top artists and multiple Grammy nominations, have brought Caribbean rhythmic influences to the global music scene. Theron, recently named Songwriter of the Year at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, and his brother Timothy, have remained connected to their roots, promoting the U.S. Virgin Islands' culture worldwide.
