Man Allegedly Chokes Ex-Girlfriend, Puts Sharp Object to Her Neck and Threatens to Kill Her Following Disagreement

ST. CROIX — A St. Croix resident has been arrested and charged with assault and other offenses after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend. Kenrick Duinkerk was recently arrested on second and third-degree assault, simple assault and battery, and destruction of property — all as crimes of domestic violence. He was also charged with disturbance of the peace by fighting. The arrest follows a report by his ex-girlfriend on September 14th, who stated that the issue stemmed from a matter in which the two could not come to an agreement. According to the probable cause fact sheet, Duinkerk began provoking the victim while she ignored him. She traveled outside of the residence and onto the beach where she remained throughout the night of September 13th. About 5:45 a.m. on September 14th, she tried to de-escalate the situation but Duinkerk began cursing at her, asking her to get away from him.
