ST. THOMAS — A man succumbed to injuries he sustained early Friday after being shot in St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed.
V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte said that the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Gamble Norsidevej in the vicinity of Palms Court Habor View, in response to calls of shots fired in the area at about 4:18 a.m. He said officers were later advised of a male victim who was shot at his apartment in the area.
Upon arrival to the residence, officers found a motionless male who was then transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he was being treated after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim, who later succumbed to his injuries, was identified by next of kin as 19-year-old Emerson Nicolas.
This case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau/Major Crime Unit.
