ST. THOMAS — Two brothers have been arrested and charged for multiple offenses which involve a minor, after allegedly assaulting the father of individuals that they had problems with.
Mahleem Warner, age 20, and 22-year-old Amari Warner were recently arrested on charges of third-degree assault, simple assault, disturbance of the peace, grand larceny, possession of stolen property, first-degree robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Aiding and abetting are attached to all of the charges.
Their arrest follows a report on July 7th in connection with an assault.
According to the probable cause fact sheet, the alleged victim arrived at Thomasville to drop off his workers and decided to relax for a moment. While there, he saw Mahleem Warner approach the area and proceeded to greet other men who were sitting there. The alleged victim stated that he knew from past incidents that the Warner brothers were having problems with his sons. When one of the brothers made eye contact with the alleged victim, this brother folded his fists and started rushing towards him, attacked and started hitting him several times about his head and body.
The alleged victim stated that once he was able to stand up, the other brother Amari Warner came over and both of them started hitting him with their fists. At some point, a minor brother came over, joining the others, holding the victim by his hair and punching him. The victim then pulled out his black Glock 40 from its holster in an attempt to scare them away but once his weapon was drawn, Amari Warner grabbed the hand that held the gun while the other brothers continued to hit him.
According to the probable cause fact sheet, the two struggled for the weapon and the victim fired four or five shots, at which point Amari Warner was able to take the firearm from him. Amari Warner then pointed the gun at the victim and said, "I could kill you now." After a while, the Warner brothers ran off with the firearm. The victim then fled the area and hid before calling 911.
When police arrived, they observed that the alleged victim had a contusion and a laceration above his right eyebrow. Investigations revealed that the object he was struck with was a piece of wood.
On September 5th, a wanted poster was sent out to the public regarding the whereabouts of the suspects. On September 7th the suspects were brought into a police station.
In court on Friday, a judge ruled that the two were not allowed to leave St. Thomas/St John without authorization from the court once they are able to post bail. The brothers are to report to the Office of Probation once a week. They are also to stay at least 30 ft away from the victim and have no contact, directly or indirectly with the victim or witnesses. Bail was set at $2,000 each. Their arraignment is set for September 23rd, 2022.
