ST. CROIX — Police investigators early Tuesday morning discovered a human body in the bushes across from Cramer Park Beach on the East End, Police Spokesman Toby Derima has confirmed to the Consortium.
The body, that of a young black male, was partially decomposed and was punctured by a gunshot wound, leading police to classify the incident as a homicide.
The victim's identity as of Tuesday afternoon had not been confirmed, and police provided a description of the deceased so that relatives could contact the V.I.P.D. Mr. Derima said as of Tuesday afternoon a missing person report had not been filed.
The deceased was described as a black male with a medium build standing between 6 feet-6 feet, 3 inches tall. His hair was described a black afro, and he wore a square diamond earring on his left ear. The victim was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, green plaid boxers and a pair of black Nike slippers, according to police.
Sion Farm shooting
A shooting in Sion Farm mid-morning Tuesday rattled the community, with Mr. Derima stating that the incident was classified as reckless endangerment. He said there were multiple gunshots fired but no report of injuries.
Police vehicles were seen in the area following the shooting collecting shell casings.
