Residents Will See $250 WAPA Rebate, Businesses $500, Through Governor Bryan's 'YES' Initiative

The Bryan administration on Monday announced formally its "YES" (Your Energy Stimulus) initiative, which provides residential Water and Power Authority customers with a one-time $250 rebate, while businesses get $500. The rebate provides $15.1 million — taken from the government's $75 million allotment of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act passed by Congress last month — to WAPA, while providing Virgin Islands households with some relief.  According to Government House, credits in the amounts of $250 for residential accounts and $500 for business accounts will be applied to the May billing cycle for active WAPA accounts. The credit will appear on WAPA bills as a line item that reads “YES Cares Act Credit.” If your account is not active, you won't be eligible for the rebate when you reconnect.
