Man Sustains Serious Injuries During Single-Car Accident on Melvin Evans Highway

ST. CROIX — On Thursday at approximately 5:36 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched Traffic Investigation Bureau officers to a single-car collision that occurred in the westbound lane of the Melvin Evans Highway, in the vicinity of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to the police report, officers traveled to the area and found a white Mercedes Benz SUV overturned and a male individual laying in the roadway with serious injuries. An investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle lost control causing the vehicle to roll over.

The driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle in the accident. He sustained various serious injuries during the accident and was in stable condition at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.

This accident was under investigation as of Friday by the Traffic Investigation Bureau.
