Liberty Latin America Now Owns All AT&T Customer Accounts in USVI and Puerto Rico

If you've been an AT&T customer, the service you are now receiving on your phone, though it may say AT&T, is being brought to you by Liberty Latin America, a leading telecommunications company operating in over 20 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

To set your mind at is, Liberty has said, "USVI and Puerto Rico have had a long-standing relationship in terms of tourism, commerce, health services and humanitarian aid. And, while we realize that we are a new company in the USVI, I want to reassure our new USVI customers that they will get the same kind of quality mobile service, attention and customer experience that they are used to. The expertise and experience of AT&T’s employees and management team, combined with our own, will ensure that we can deliver on that promise."

CDC Allows its No-Sail Order to Expire

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention allowed its Covid-19-induced no-sail order for cruise lines to expire on Saturday, paving the way for cruise ships to set sail once more.

The CDC's decision comes with restrictions. Cruise operators will have to host mock voyages to prove the safety of ships before setting sail with guests. Cruise travel remains one of the easiest ways to catch or spread the coronavirus because of duration, the older passenger population and cohabitation.

Additional to hosting mock voyages, the CDC said itineraries cannot be longer than one week, and all crew members and passengers must be tested before boarding.

Two Homicides Over the Weekend on St. Croix

Two men were shot to death in separate shooting incidents on St. Croix over the weekend. The first occurred after 8:00 p.m. Saturday night in Concordia West during a drive-by shooting, while the second took place on the East End of St. Croix Sunday afternoon. The first victim was identified by next of kin as 19-year-old Nathaniel Felix, while the victim of Sunday's shooting, a man in his late 40s, was identified by next of kin as Bomani Christian.

In other news, the V.I. Port Authority held a ground-breaking event for the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport Terminal Expansion and Modernization Project; bids for a new Hotel on the Cay resort is expected to close soon; a man who was arrested in June on an unauthorized possession of firearm charge was arrested on the same charge Saturday; Remember the Cruzan Dance Company?
