The V.I. Department of Education has announced plans to host a Back-to-School Jamboree and Food Truck Festival on Saturday, August 9. The event will take place at the St. Croix Educational Complex from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The celebration is part of the department’s 2025–2026 school year theme: “Igniting Innovation and Elevating Excellence.” In line with that vision, the jamboree aims to strengthen community partnerships, build school pride, and offer families the tools they need to start the school year strong.
The event will feature a range of activities for students in Pre-K through 12th grade, as well as their parents. Attendees can expect games, music, educational community stations, and a variety of food options from local food trucks.
VIDE is encouraging participation from community partners, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Interested groups are invited to host educational stations where families can learn more about the services and opportunities available throughout the territory in a hands-on, interactive setting.
According to the department, the goal is to create a welcoming space where students, parents, and community organizations can connect directly and access meaningful support ahead of the new academic year.
For more information or to confirm participation, individuals may contact Dynel Lang, Director of Parental and Community Engagement & Positive School Climate, at [email protected] or (340) 773-1095 ext. 7095, or Jeselle Cruse-Peter, Elementary Programs Coordinator, at [email protected] or (340) 514-5390.
VIDE says it looks forward to welcoming families and partners as it kicks off the new school year with a celebration that embodies innovation, excellence, and community collaboration.
