ST. CROIX — A man died Tuesday night after the Honda Civic he was driving veered off Midland Road, Route 72, and crashed head-on into a concrete culvert wall just west of Estate Coble, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The driver was later identified by his sister and next of kin, Joanna Harris, as Olrick R. Harris.

According to VIPD’s preliminary investigation, the crash occurred at approximately 8:53 p.m. on August 11, 2026.

VITEMA 911 notified Sgt. Arthur A. Joseph Sr., commander of the Traffic Investigation Bureau, by telephone of the vehicle collision on Midland Road.

When investigators arrived, Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were providing medical assistance to Harris inside the vehicle.

Harris died at the scene. EMS Fire Paramedic Chief Robert Bryan pronounced him dead at approximately 9:07 p.m.

Police said Harris had been driving a multicolored 1992 Honda Civic hatchback bearing license plate CIP-862 northeast on Midland Road when the vehicle veered left onto the western shoulder of the eastbound side of Route 72.

The Honda then collided head-on with a concrete culvert wall.

According to the traffic investigation, the impact caused considerable damage to the vehicle’s front, undercarriage and interior.

VIPD said Harris was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.

His body was removed from the scene by Department of Justice personnel.
