Drunk Driver Slams Into Police Vehicle With Truck, Injures Officers

ST. THOMAS -- 39-year-old Aaron Stockdale was arrested on Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol after slamming into a police vehicle and fleeing the scene, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced. The incident occurred at around 1:04 a.m. while the affected officers were on parole in Nadir. According to Jackson, the officers were headed westward on Nicholas Friday Drive when a GMC Canyon, operated by Stockdale, was coming out of the intersection of the same area. Stockdale collided into the left side of the police unit and immediately fled the scene heading towards the Red Hook area, where the truck he was operating became disabled. One of the officers was given a ride by a private motorist that was driving by, and Stockdale was later found in the area of Frydenhoj.
