Public sensitization efforts continue as the Virgin Islands Port Authority moves forward with its plan to modernize the territory’s two airports with a public-private partnership.
VIPA announced two community meetings scheduled for next week. At 6 p.m. on Tuesday May 16, the public is invited to the airport terminal lounge at the Henry E. Rohlsen airport on St. Croix to ask questions and learn more about the “P3” project, with the discussion moving to the Rotary West Meeting Hall in Frederiksted the next day.
On May 18, VIPA authorities will meet the public on the third floor conference room of VIPA’s administrative building on St. Thomas, with a video link to the Legislative Annex on Cruz Bay St. John. The meetings will also be livestreamed on the authority’s Facebook page.
VIPA’s Executive Director Carlton Dowe will be the lead speaker at the three meetings, which are designed to provide the public with more information about the progress of the massive undertaking.
Last month, the authority announced that four firms had been shortlisted for consideration, out of the eight valid proposals that had been received following the Request for Qualifications. Mr. Dowe said at the time that a Request for Proposals on the project is scheduled to be issued in June.
