Dept. of Education Announces Laptop, MiFi Distribution Set for May 4th and 5th for Eligible Public School Students

The Dept. of Education said Friday that come Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5, it will distribute laptop computers and MiFi internet devices to students who have indicated a need for the electronics at home and who have earned below the required 70% passing average in the first semester and/or third marking period. Priority distribution is being given to these academically vulnerable students to ensure their ability to complete online assignments for the remainder of the school year. Eligibility to receive the electronics is based on students’ current academic standing, as well as the results of a Home Technology Information survey the Department conducted in early March, the department said. One MiFi device will be issued per household and each student who have not met the required 70% passing average will be issued a laptop computer or tablet.
