Police Nab Frederiksted Motor Oil Vandal

ST. CROIX — Police on Friday afternoon arrested the man responsible for vandalizing a number of buildings in Frederiksted with motor oil, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

Last weekend, the Delegate to Congress Office, the Virgin Islands Supreme Court and the administrative building of Frederiksted Health Care, were vandalized by a then-unknown assailant. Then on Tuesday morning, the Frederiksted Post Office was vandalized as well. 

Today at around 2:33 p.m., police arrested Jimmy “Tayi” Navarro, age 46 of Hospital Street, Frederiksted, on a warrant for five counts of destruction of property and five counts of public nuisance. Mr. Derima said police identified Navarro as the man responsible for vandalizing the aforementioned properties.

Unable to make bail of $50,000 Navarro was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
