ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department on Wednesday morning provided the identity of the victim who was fatally shot at the Mutual Homes housing community Tuesday night.
According to police spokesman Toby Derima, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call of shots fired and a man down in the Mutual Homes housing community, in the vicinity of Building 41. Officers traveled to the area and found an unresponsive Black male with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene made a check of the victim and found no vital signs, Mr. Derima said.
The victim was identified as Euette A. Brown, age 34.
Sidney Elskoe, St. Croix District chief of police, condemned this latest incident. “Another family is left to mourn the loss of their loved one, due to senseless gun violence," he said. "We must come together as a community and say, ‘enough is enough!’”

The incident was the seventh homicide on St. Croix in five days, with even more people injured during shootings spanning multiple locations including the Corner Pocket Nightclub, Estate La Grange, the Frederiksted Vegetable Market, Mon Bijou, Williams Delight, Estate Carlton, and the Mutual Homes housing community.
So far nine people have died through homicide in the USVI: one on St. John and eight on St. Croix.
