ST. CROIX — A man was shot in Mon Bijou after 7:00 a.m. Sunday and was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. The latest incident follows a string of violent shootings between Saturday night and the wee hours of Sunday morning, which left eleven people shot and four dead. A fifth victim is said to be in critical condition at the hospital.

According to Mr. Derima, the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 7:32 a.m. Sunday received reports of shots fired in Mon Bijou. The incident resulted in one gunshot victim being transported to the hospital for treatment. The victim's condition could not be determined at time of writing.

V.I.P.D. officials are set to convene a meeting this morning to discuss the recent shootings. A press conference will most likely be held sometime today where law enforcement officials are expected to address the rapid surge in deadly violence.

Multiple investigations are ongoing into the incidents, said Mr. Derima. The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of perpetrators to  call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or provide an anonymously to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
