ST. CROIX — Gunfire broke out near a nightclub in La Reine during the wee hours of Sunday morning, leaving two people injured, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to authorities, the VIPD's ShotSpotter system detected multiple gunshots at around 12:29 a.m. The 911 Emergency Call Center was soon notified of two gunshot victims at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.

Upon arrival, Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) detectives interviewed the victims, who revealed that they had been at the Corner Pocket Grillhouse and Nightclub to watch a boxing match on a big screen. Following the conclusion of the fight, they left the establishment in a white Ford Bronco. Just as they approached the North side road entrance of Corner Pocket, their vehicle came under fire, according to the victims.

Both victims claimed that they did not have any issues with anyone while at the establishment, nor did they see who fired the shots or know where the shots came from. In an attempt to escape the gunfire, the driver drove straight to the JFL Emergency Room where they received treatment for their injuries.

Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds but are now in stable condition at the hospital, according to police. Forensics teams were on the scene to process evidence as the investigation into this violent incident continues.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation by contacting the CIB Tipline at 340-778-4950 or 340 712 6092. You may also send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
