ST. CROIX — A 21-year-old man was arrested last week in Christiansted for alleged possession of undeclared firearm components.
The suspect, Jared E. Dover of Tan Tan Terrace, New Castle Coakley, was arrested on May 12 following a successful search warrant execution that took place last year, according to the V.I. Police Department.
According to the Criminal Investigation Bureau's (CIB) official report, members of the Criminal Investigation and Special Operation Bureaus conducted a search of Dover's residence on November 18, 2022. The search, which was executed at 5:00 a.m., led to the discovery of firearm parts in Dover's bedroom, a clear violation of local laws. The firearm components were immediately confiscated, and an arrest warrant was sought for Dover.
Lt. Naomi Joseph, the commander of the CIB, stated that the authorities obtained the warrant from the V.I. Superior Court following the discovery of the firearm components.
Following his arrest on May 12, Dover was brought to the John Bell Correctional Facility, where he was already detained for undisclosed reasons. "Mr. Dover was advised of his Miranda Rights and was placed under arrest for the charges," said Lt. Joseph.
The arrest occurred without incident, and Dover was booked immediately. Despite bail being set at $5,500.00 on May 3, 2023, Dover was unable to post the amount. As a result, he was transported back to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
