Dept. Of Health Appoints Medical Director

The V.I. Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Michelle Davis on Tuesday announced the appointment of Tai Camille Hunte- Ceasar, MD, as D.O.H.'s new medical director. Dr. Hunte-Ceasar, born and raised on St. Thomas, attended Kirwin Terrace Elementary and Addelita Cancryn Junior High School prior to graduating from Charlotte Amalie High School in 1997. She subsequently obtained a bachelor of science degree and a medical degree at Howard University in Washington, DC. After medical school, she completed an internal medicine residency program and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami (UM). During residency, Dr. Hunte-Ceasar joined the Jay Weiss Residency for Global Health Equity, which integrated global health and internal medicine training. As a Jay Weiss resident, she obtained a masters of science degree in public health at UM and completed international electives in countries in the Caribbean, South America, and in South Africa....
