Road Construction On North Shore Road At VI National Park To Commence Late August

ST. CROIX -- The Federal Highway Administration, working on behalf of the National Park Service, will begin construction on North Shore Road beginning in late August, N.P.S. made known via press release Thursday. According to the release, there are two short sections of the road that will be repaired under this contract. One of the sections is at each end of the half bridge structure with stone guard walls overlooking Oppenheimer/Gibney Beach and Hawksnest. The work there will be to repair some settling of the pavement and erosion that is happening at each end of the structure. The other section of work is 50 feet of road shoulder beyond the Jumbie Parking area and before the Trunk Bay Overlook. The work in this section will include placing gabion baskets on the downhill side of the road in order to support the road in that area, according to N.P.S.
