As a result of recent action taken by the Federal Communications Commission that affects carriers nationwide, Innovative Telephone, Innovative Wireless and Innovative Long Distance customers will notice a decrease in the Federal Universal Service (FUSC) charge effective today, Innovative announced recently.

The FUSC surcharge factor recovers the costs associated with the carrier’s contributions to the federal universal fund program, according to the release. The government-mandated program is designed to help keep service rates affordable for all customers, in all areas of the United States.

Effective today, there will be a change in the FUSC surcharge factor from 17.4% to 16.7%. For residential telephone customers and single-line business subscribers, the FUSC charge will decrease from $1.31 to $1.26. Multi-line telephone business subscribers will also notice a change on their bill from $1.85 to $1.78 per line. PBX lines rates are also decreasing from $2.44 to $2.34 per line.
