Celebrity Edge Makes Second Voyage to St. Thomas Since Resumption of Cruise Travel to USVI

ST. THOMAS — Celebrity Edge on Tuesday made its second voyage to St. Thomas since the resumption of cruise travel to the territory on July 5, this time carrying 1,602 passengers and nearly 1,000 crew members, according to the V.I. Port Authority. The ship docked at Crown Bay in St.  Thomas, which is controlled by VIPA. According to Port Authority officials, Tuesday's voyage included much more activity than the first. VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe told the Consortium that of the 1,602 passengers, 500 were booked to participate in water events, while the others were set to participate in land activities and explore the island. During the last voyage on July 5, Celebrity Edge hosted 1,562 passengers and roughly the same number of crew members. Mr. Dowe expressed optimism that the activity would reignite St. Thomas's powerful tourism engine after more than a year of pandemic-related shutdowns.
