Michelle Smith and Sofia Swindell Set Their Sights on Pan American U20 Games Glory

Athletes Michelle Smith and Sofia Swindell are set to represent the Virgin Islands in the upcoming Pan American Under 20 Games, according to the Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation.

The games are scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico from August 4 - 6, 2023.

Smith, the recently honored NACAC U18 Champion and record holder in both the 400m Hurdles and 800m events, along with a silver medalist status in the 100m Hurdles, is slated to compete in the 400m Hurdles on Friday, August 4. Swindell, who boasts a Bronze medal in the NACAC U18 100m Hurdles, is scheduled to compete in the 100m Hurdles on Saturday, August 5, and in the 200m on Sunday, August 6.

Furthermore, another Virgin Islands Track and Field team member, Malique Smith, is gearing up to compete in the World Championships scheduled for August 16 - 28, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary. This event is highly anticipated and is seen as a great opportunity for the Virgin Islands to shine on the global athletics stage.

Both Michelle Smith and Malique Smith have qualified for the PANAM Games. These games are a significant event in the athletic calendar and are set to take place in Santiago, Chile, from October 20 to November 5, 2023.
