Governor Albert Bryan Jr.
Governor Albert Byran Jr’s final State of the Territory address will be delivered two weeks later than the Revised Organic Act requires, after the 36th Legislature approved his request to postpone the presentation.
The address will now be delivered on January 26th, 2026, at 7 pm.
In a letter dated December 17th and read into the record on Monday, Governor Albert Bryan stated that his final address will “serve as an important reflection on the achievements and future of the Virgin Islands under my leadership.”
To ensure the address is “delivered with the depth and preparation it deserves”, Governor Bryan insists that “additional time is required for proper planning and coordination.” The extension will allow for “adequate preparation and to ensure the event is organized in a manner befitting its importance,” he said.
The motion to grant the extension was made by Senator Kurt Vialet, and received 13 favorable votes. Senators Dwayne DeGraff and Alma Francis Heyliger voted against the motion.
