ST. THOMAS — The Schneider Regional Medical Center announced Wednesday the launch of its "drive-up" Covid-19 testing site located at the hospital.
“Given the exponential increase in Covid-19 cases in the territory and the need for additional testing sites, SRMC now offers highly efficient testing with same-day results through our fully automated Holistic Panther Fusion® System. We also provide quick registration online,” said SRMC Vice President of Operations, Chris Borgesen.
According to the release, physician referral or appointment is not required. Visitors are asked to pre-register online here.
The SRMC testing site operates Monday through Friday from 8:30am -11:30am. Tests are $100.00 each. Only credit and debit card payments are currently accepted. Cash payments cannot be accepted at this time, according to the release.
SRMC Interim CEO, Dr. Luis Amaro, said earlier this month that the Covid-19 testing service could create additional, unbudgeted revenue for the hospital.
SRMC also said its Covid tests provide:
- Higher sensitivity
- Greater accuracy
- Quicker turnaround time
Along with the Virgin Islands Health Department, SRMC said it continues to encourage residents to protect themselves and their families by getting vaccinated to slow the spread of Covid-19.
