ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department will host a press conference at 1:00 p.m. today to address the recent escalation of violent crime on St. Croix, following the homicides of two men on the island in separate incidents Friday.

According to Police Spokesman Toby Derima, "VIPD officials will be addressing the recent homicides that occurred this week on St. Croix."

In separate incidents Friday, two men were shot dead by assailants. The first incident took place Friday after the 8:00 a.m hour at HH Tire & Battery. Three men were seen via surveillance camera footage exiting a vehicle and descending on their target, who was sitting in a vehicle that had just parked. They fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area.

Then, after 3:00 p.m. Friday, a man sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body in Lorraine Village. 

The victim of the first shooting was identified by family members as 27-year-old Aaron Joseph. Kaleem Ramsey, 26, was identified as the second victim. Both were from Grove.
