ST. THOMAS — The V.I.P.D. officers were investigating a shooting that occurred in the Market Square area Wednesday night, said police spokesman Toby Derima.
According to the news release, on Wednesday at approximately 10:58 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim.
The victim reported that he was in the Market Square area with other individuals when an unknown male produced a firearm. The victim further stated that he heard the sound of the firearm and recognized that he was shot in his leg. The victim was transported to the hospital via private vehicle for medical treatment, where he was listed in stable condition, Mr. Derima said.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his twenties, slim built with a low-cut hairstyle, wearing a white t-shirt.
