ST. THOMAS — Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a victim while he had her bound so as to limit her movement.
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Friday at roughly 5:30 p.m., police arrested Kwanza George and charged him with third-degree assault, domestic violence in connection with the incident.
The victim told police that on Sept. 1, George assaulted her and caused physical injuries. The victim said she was bound while being assaulted and therefore her movement was limited, according to the police news release.
No bail was granted to George as per the territory's domestic violence laws, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
In April, George was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle. According to the police report at the time, the victim told police that on March 19, she was sitting at home and observed an individual drive away with her vehicle without permission, and later noticed that her car keys were missing from inside her residence.
The vehicle was later recovered in Estate Canaan and Sherpenjewel, and George was positively identified as the individual who stole the car.
