New Jersey Man to be Extradited Back to Mainland for Probation Violation

ST. THOMAS — V.I.P.D. officers on Monday at approximately 4:32 p.m. arrested 38-year-old Luis C. Cancio of Elizabeth, NJ, charging him with being a fugitive from justice. 

According to the news release, Cancio was detained by Customs & Border Patrol at the Cyril E. King Airport, after it was discovered he was wanted in the state of New Jersey for a probation violation. He was originally charged with second-degree manslaughter in New Jersey.

Cancio was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections without bail, pending his extradition hearing.
