Man Who Was Shot in Harvey Project on June 14 Dies at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami

ST. CROIX — A man who was shot multiple times during the nighttime of June 14 succumbed to his injuries on July 22 while receiving treatment at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, the V.I.P.D. made known Sunday.

Following the victim's death, the V.I.P.D. upgraded the incident to a homicide, with the Criminal Investigation Bureau taking the lead on the investigation.

The incident, which occurred in Estate Bethlehem Village, called Harvey Project, left the victim with gunshot wounds in the back, leg and elbows, according to the police department.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at about 9:01 p.m. by the 911 Emergency Call Center after a report of gunshots in the area. While on the scene, they met and spoke with the male victim who was in the vicinity of his residence in Bethlehem Village. Police did not reveal details of the conversation.

The victim was treated for his injuries on the scene by officers and was later transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, according to the V.I.P.D.

Since his passing, the victim was identified by next of kin as 30-year-old Regaldo Cepeda.

Multiple spent shell casings from high-powered rifles were found on the scene and damage was observed to the exterior walls of some of the apartments in the area, According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte.
