ST. THOMAS — A grim familial tragedy unfolded on Saturday in Estate Thomas, St. Thomas, when a man was arrested for allegedly shooting his brother dead in broad daylight.
According to a V.I. Police Department's Major Crimes Unit's report, the distressing incident came to light around 12:41 p.m., when a local citizen made a chilling 911 call. The caller reported that they had received information about a shooting at a residence in Estate Thomas. Promptly, VIPD patrol officers and the citizen rushed to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive man sprawled on the ground. The man, later identified as 48-year-old Steave Liverpool, appeared to have been shot multiple times. Emergency Medical Technicians on scene determined that Liverpool had succumbed to his injuries, showing no vital signs.
In a startling revelation, law enforcement officials received information implicating the victim's brother, Richard Liverpool, in the fatal shooting. Acting swiftly, Richard Liverpool, 47, was apprehended at approximately 6:00 p.m. that same day.
Upon arrest, he was charged with first-degree murder, along with additional charges of first-degree assault, and unauthorized use of a firearm during a crime of violence. His bail has been set at $1 million.
