Man Arrested For 2018 Mutual Homes Homicide of David Gonzalez

ST. CROIX — V.I.P.D. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit on Tuesday at about 2:30 p.m. arrested Voshon A. Vallarde, age 22 of Barren Spot, on an arrest warrant stemming from the murder of David Gonzalez on October 27, 2018, in the vicinity of Mutual Homes.

According to a V.I.P.D. release in 2018 of the homicide, Mr. Gonzalez was shot to death will leaving his apartment in Mutual Homes during the afternoon time of Oct. 27.

Calls were placed to the 911 emergency call center at roughly 3:40 p.m., and officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, according to then-V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte. 

Upon arrival, the officers discovered a Hispanic male lying lifeless in the parking lot outside the apartment, his upper body riddled with bullets, according to Mr. Dratte.

A preliminary investigation at the time revealed that the victim was leaving the apartment building with a female companion when three masked men approached him and shot him multiple times and fled the area, Mr. Dratte said.

Unable to post bail of $1 million, Mr. Vallarde was remanded to Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
