Man Shot To Death In Mutual Homes By Three Masked Men

Business / Crime / News / Virgin Islands / October 27, 2018

ST. CROIX — A man was killed while leaving his apartment building in Mutual Homes on Saturday afternoon, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has confirmed to The Consortium.

Mr. Dratte said calls were placed to the 911 emergency call center at roughly 3:40 p.m., and that officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a Hispanic male lying lifeless in the parking lot outside the apartment, his upper body riddled with bullets, according to Mr. Dratte.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was leaving the apartment building with a female companion when three masked men approached him and shot him multiple times and fled the area, Mr. Dratte said.

The victim was identified by next of kin as David Gonzalez, 25. Officers were still on the scene investigating the incident late Saturday, Mr. Dratte said.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
