ST. CROIX — Gunshots rattled Sion Hill on Wednesday night, resulting in one man being rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Emergency Room for treatment, while homes in the surrounding area along with three vehicles were damaged by gunfire from multiple gunmen. The V.I.P.D. recovered 50 shell casings on the scene of the shooting, according to a police report viewed by the Consortium.

The latest shooting follows the death of a Sion Farm man outside the Thomas Bakery in Castle Coakley on Saturday, and the discharging on over 82 shots in Castle Coakley on Sunday morning. Police have not said whether the incidents are related.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, the 911 emergency call center received notification of the shooting at about 9:53 p.m. Residents made contact with the Consortium reporting a barrage of gunfire ringing through the neighborhoods and rattling residents.

The V.I.P.D. as of Thursday morning hadn't divulged new information, however, Mr. Derima said the police force's Criminal Investigation Bureau was investigating the incident, and that more details would be forthcoming.

The Police Department is asking anyone with information about this shooting to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
