ST. CROIX — The Criminal Investigation Bureau of the V.I. Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in Old Fredensborg, according to the VIPD.

The victim has been identified as Jamoi Edward Arthur of Contant, St. Thomas.

According to the police, on Friday the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call at about 10:34 a.m. The caller, a local resident, was walking in the shortcut between Old Fredensborg and the Candido Guadalupe Housing Community when he discovered an unresponsive young man lying in the grassy path.

Responding to the call, the CIB arrived at the scene to find the young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Forensics teams collected several spent shell casings from the site. Despite an immediate canvas of the area for potential witnesses, no leads have been identified so far.

Following the investigation, a contact was located who knew the deceased. The victim's family on St. Thomas was subsequently notified of his death by the district CIB unit. The Department of Justice's medico-legal investigator was responsible for transporting the victim to the morgue.

In light of these developments, the police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
